Even if you've never been to Stoke Park Club before, it's likely that there will be something familiar about the place. Thanks to its role as a backdrop for countless memorable film and TV scenes—one being James Bond and Goldfinger's tense round of golf—the 230-year old, Palladian grandeur of the main mansion is instantly recognisable.

Almost as famous as the quality of its golf course is the much-loved hotel. But getting a reservation has traditionally been quite difficult, since there were only 21 rooms. Now with the opening of another 28 rooms, including eight suites, it should be a little easier. The new rooms are all located in the £20m Pavilion building, which originally opened in 2002 to house the spa and sports facilities (including indoor tennis courts, a gym and a glorious indoor pool).

Designed by Roger King, the new rooms keep the opulent feel of the existing rooms in the mansion house, but are designed in a more contemporary style. Located on the first and second floors of the Pavilion, all offer excellent views over the gardens.
