As you’re not “a school-leaver or underprivileged person”, you’ve got no chance of landing the trainee gardener job that’s up for grabs in the Prince of Wales’s green version of The Apprentice. But don’t panic. The adult education courses at Kew Gardens are the next best way of greening up your fingers. The courses, aimed at budding botanists and seasoned gardeners alike, cover a wide range of topics from horticulture to history.
This season’s offering includes a one-day Orchids for Beginners course and a talk on the art of pruning your perennials so they flower on demand—perhaps to coincide with next summer’s garden party.
