Since it launched in 2006, luxury car event Salon Privé has rapidly established itself as part of the summer season. Set in the gorgeous grounds of The Hurlingham Club, London, Salon Privé is described by its founder David Bagley as "less a motor show, more an English garden party with cars".
But that's not to say that there's any doubt that the event is all about the cars. This year's show, which runs from 2-4 July, features a stunning line-up of new and classic cars including the UK debut of the new Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe, the stunning Maserati Gran Turismo S and an as yet unconfirmed potential world debut from Bugatti.
In keeping with the desire to create an event that's more than just a motor show, tickets for the event include full hospitality, with major parties and events planned for all three nights. There is also a Concours D'Elégance—think high-class classic car rally—in which iconic classic cars will compete to be "best of show", an accolade won last year by Jay Kay with an incredible vintage Maserati A6G 2000cc.
Among the 60 classic cars lined up to appear this year are Steve McQueen's Ferrari 250 Lusso and the Ferrari California Spyder once owned by actor James Coburn and recently purchased at auction by DJ Chris Evans. With everything from a McLaren F1 to an Aston Martin DB3S on show, it promises to be a tough contest to judge.
