Swiftly and with style

If you've ever wondered why there isn't all that much crossover between the worlds of fast cars and fast boats, you can stop now. It's all changed with the arrival of the XSR48 from XSMG Marine, billed by its makers as "a state of the art performance powerboat with the DNA of a supercar"

The idea is simple: combine the best elements of a supercar and a superyacht.  The result is impressive. The XSR48 has 2,000 horsepower twin diesel engines propelling it to a top speed of 100mph, with a cruising speed of 50mph. The supercar connotations continue in the cabin, where the brief was to create "the world's first superboat", a job aided by the controls being in handcrafted aluminium from Frazero, the company that made the controls for the Bugatti Veyron.

XSMG Marine is run by Ian Sanderson and Peter Dredge, both world powerboat champions, and the XSR48 will be used to tackle a series of world endurance speed records. Production will be limited to just 100 boats and to nab one for yourself, you'll have to part with £1.2m. What are you waiting for?
