As you'd expect from a hotel spa owned by famous vintner Sir Peter Michael, wine lovers are extremely welcome here. In fact, at the Vineyard, respect for the grape borders on devotional. If you've had enough of browsing the 2,000-strong wine list, you can make your way over to the spa for one of several "vinotherapy" treatments, where the body lotions are full of Chardonnay and the massage oils are made from Tuscan Chianti. The restaurant, run by John Campbell, has just gained another Michelin star, and deservedly so. Campbell's cooking is fussy—fussy good, not fussy overcomplicated—and is best sampled on the £75, 10-course, taster menu. If you can't stomach all that perfection for lunch, the £28 menu is a touch more laid-back.
