Momofuku (Lost Highway/Universal)
Possibly only Bob Dylan has had more returns to form than Elvis Costello. But here Costello gives the best display of his sublime songwriting skills since 1996's All This Useless Beauty. There's an energy to the album that suggests a recapturing of the fun of being in the studio. Sublime playing from old pals Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve are matched by contributions from Thomas's daughter and Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis.
